A Walk in Alice´s Garden

 

No sé en qué se guió el autor de esta recopilación al elegir la foto de Alice Liddell para la portada... Pero la historia de la foto en sí es interesante...
Alice Pleasance Hargreaves (de soltera Liddell, 4 de mayo de 1852 - 16 de noviembre de 1934), fue, en su infancia, una conocida y fotografiada por Lewis Carroll. Una de las historias que le contó durante un viaje en bote se convirtió en la clásica novela infantil de 1865 Alicia en el país de las Maravillas. Compartió su nombre con "Alicia", la heroína de la historia, pero los estudiosos no están de acuerdo sobre hasta qué punto el personaje se basó en ella.
En el momento de su nacimiento, el padre de Liddell era el director de la escuela de Westminster, pero poco después fue nombrado decano de Christ Church, Oxford. La familia Liddell se mudó a Oxford en 1856. Poco después de esta mudanza, Alice conoció a Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), quien conoció a la familia mientras fotografiaba la catedral el 25 de abril de 1856. Se hizo amigo cercano de la familia Liddell en años posteriores.
