New Musical Express, popularmente conocido como NME, es un semanario musical del Reino Unido que ha estado publicándose desde marzo de 1952. Se hizo particularmente popular durante la era punk. Sin embargo, al mismo tiempo, la revista ha sido criticada desde algunos sectores por su inclinación hacia formaciones indie. Aun así, se mantiene como uno de los puntales de referencia de la música popular británica.

Hammond Heroes

 

A mediados de los 60 el rock 'n' roll perdía su apellido y para muchos grupos era sólo rock. Así los ejecutantes comenzaron a perfeccionarse y aparecieron los grandes bajistas, como Jack Bruce o John Enwistle. Los grandes bateristas como Keith Moon o Ginger Baker. Igualmente salieron guitarristas de fuste como Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton o Jimi Hendrix. Sin embargo, uno de los instrumentos que estaban más de acompañamiento pasó a ser actor principal como el órgano Hammond. Este instrumento, inventado por el estadounidense Laurens Hammond hacia 1935, comenzó a tener gran influencia en la música, sobre todo al aparecer el garage y la sicodelia. Así en esta compilación del año 2005, aparecen 23 cortes donde la figura principal es el órgano Hammond, ejecutado por maestros como Manfred Mann, Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group), Jon Lord (Artwoods), Graham Bond (Graham Bond Organization) o Ian McLagan (Small Faces). Cortes con un toque de R&B, Garage, Psy Rock y lo principal, todos son piezas instrumentales. pass: manchon1961
