A fines de 1968 The Beatles pensaban en hacer una película y un álbum, sin embargo, agotados por el trabajo del Album Blanco, decidieron darse un tiempo y buscar ideas para nuevas canciones. En un frío día de enero de 1969, se juntaron y estuvieron un mes trabajando en las sesiones previas a Abbey Road y Let It Be. El trabajo fue grabado en cinta magnética, pero el sonido dejaba harto que desear, por lo cual The Beatles no consideraron nada para sacarlo en estos álbumes. Hoy han salido a luz las mejores canciones de ese período, que incluye canciones antiguas y nuevas, así como temas que hasta ahora no habían sido escuchados.
