Texas International Pop Festival

El Texas International Pop Festival fue un festival de música celebrado en Lewisville, Texas, el fin de semana del Día del Trabajo, del 30 de agosto al 1 de septiembre de 1969. Ocurrió dos semanas después de Woodstock. El lugar del evento fue el recién inaugurado Dallas International Motor Speedway, ubicado en el lado este de la autopista interestatal 35E, frente a la intersección de Round Grove Road. El festival fue una creación de Angus G. Wynne III, hijo de Angus G. Wynne, el fundador del parque de atracciones Six Flags Over Texas. Wynne era un promotor de conciertos que había asistido al Festival Internacional de Pop de Atlanta el fin de semana del 4 de julio. Decidió organizar un festival cerca de Dallas y se unió al organizador principal del festival de Atlanta, Alex Cooley, formando la compañía Interpop Superfest. Los artistas que actuaron en el festival fueron: Led Zeppelin, B.B. King, Canned Heat, Chicago (entonces llamada Chicago Transit Authority), Delaney y Bonnie and Friends, Freddie King, Grand Funk Railroad, Herbie Mann, Incredible String Band, James Cotton, Janis Joplin, Johnny Winter, Nazz, Rotary Connection, Sam y Dave, Santana, Shiva's Headband, Sly & The Family Stone, Space Opera, Spirit, Sweetwater, Ten Years After y Tony Joe White. Se desconoce la asistencia al festival, pero se estima entre 120.000 y 150.000. Al igual que en Woodstock, no se denunciaron delitos violentos.
