La fecha de lanzamiento de 101 Pirate Radio Hits de Virgin fue notablemente cercana al lanzamiento de The Boat That Rocked, del director Richard Curtis, una comedia sobre una estación de radio británica ilegal en el Mar del Norte en los años 60. Dicho esto, es difícil discutir con las 101 canciones que componen el gigante de precio económico. La naturaleza eurocéntrica de la colección evita que se transforme en una versión extendida de cuatro discos de la banda sonora de Forrest Gump, ya que cuenta con excelente material de Keith West ("Excerpt from a Teenage Opera"), Small Faces ("Hey Girl") y Easybeats ("Friday on My Mind"), pero eso no lo hace menos merecedor de un infomercial de televisión nocturno presentado por algún subícono de la contracultura o ex MTV VJ. pass: manchon1961
